Wildlife Viewing

Lake McKenzie’s water has a very low pH, which is why it supports virtually no fish — an interesting fact when you’re floating in some of the clearest water you’ll ever see. Dingoes are regularly seen around the walking tracks and picnic areas; they’re curious and opportunistic, so keep food and belongings secured rather than left unattended. Birdlife around the lake is plentiful, adding to the tranquil setting.

One dingo made off with my hat years ago — it made me chase it for a solid ten minutes to get it back, much to the amusement of our crew. – James
