Eli Creek is Fraser Island’s (K’gari) largest freshwater creek, and it moves an extraordinary amount of water — Queensland’s park managers put the figure at around 80 million litres a day. The water is fed by a rainforest aquifer.
A boardwalk (400 m return) runs alongside the creek, and a popular way to enjoy it is to float gently downstream with the current back toward the beach — it’s about as close to a natural lazy river as you’ll find.
Eli Creek is about 85 km south of Orchid Blue — roughly a 1 hour 30 minute 4WD drive. Our Complete Guide to Eli Creek has the full directions and tide notes.
