Fast Facts About Fraser: The Largest Sand Island on Earth

Fraser Island (K’gari) is the largest sand island on Earth — 123 km long, 22 km wide, and covering 1,840 km². That’s bigger than more than 30 whole countries, including Singapore, Bahrain, Barbados and Andorra.

It took several hundred thousand years to form, with winds carrying sand from as far away as the New South Wales tablelands to build the island up into what’s here today. Despite being built almost entirely of sand, it shelters genuine rainforest, 40 perched lakes, and around 250 km of largely untouched beaches — making it one of the most unique places in the world to holiday with family.

Orchid Blue Holiday House is positioned in a prime location to experience the best of the island. See what’s close by to the house in our attractions guide.
